I
was excited to hear a speaker designed specifically for an SE84C or
SE84CS because it would be another killer recommended loudspeaker at
around the same low cost as the amp. I was most impressed with the
Parker 95's. They disappear well, have an easy to listen to signature
that is smooth and well extended in both directions. They do not
require a sub to sound right, the bass is full without bloat, and they
get plenty loud with a Zen. I feel it's a speaker that will sound right
in almost any room because of its slightly relaxed and very musical
signature.

After discussing my needs with Dave, he agreed
to build a custom pair of bookshelf speakers for me based on the Parker
Audio Troll platform. A high quality ribbon driver replaced the standard
tweeter and the "Troll Signature" was born ..... This is one fantastic little speaker ..... at
92 db efficiency and a 4 ohm impedance it works very nicely with my
Decware Select amplifier and CSP2 preamp. These puppies absolutely disappear (as any
really good bookshelf monitor should) and do very well at filling my 26'
x 16' listening room with music...... for anyone looking for a fine,
inexpensive ($549.00 pair) speaker to mate with their Decware Zen
amplifier, I can give the Troll Signature a hearty "two thumbs up" .....

Special thanks to
Steve Deckert for my Zen SE84B and to Dave Dutill, for the parker
95's - a match made in heaven. Less money, more music. Yes!

I have to say that
from the moment I started listening to them, the Parker Audio 95 MkIIs
sounded excellent. I was totally blown away by just how smooth,
detailed, focused and fast they were. When you start hearing new
details, new textures in music you have known and loved for years then
you KNOW you are onto something good and I was hearing a lot of new
stuff with these speakers! Click

I just spent a
delightful evening listening to a Zen Select driving a set of
custom-made high-efficiency speakers that were designed for
"flea-powered" amps. We listened to several albums. It was sublime,
involving, musical, emotionally resonant.........words are too limited
to describe it. I listened to favorite albums that sounded new all over
again. Experiences like these are not quantifiable.

Your 98's combined with
the little SE84CS is by far the best setup I have ever had. In fact,
nothing I've ever had comes near competing with the combination of the
Decware amp and the Parker 98's.
The headroom one gets
with a single select is absolutely mind-boggling, and the
intelligibility and lack of congestion in large sounding complex
passages, such as piano, symphony and choral textures is absolutely
amazing.
Many serious listeners
that have heard them at my place have been absolutely astounded;
including musician friends who do a lot of live recording of
classical recitals and concerts; for whom I've played their recordings
through my system. Half of everyone I know is or have been professional
musicians, including myself and my wife.

Last evening,
magic finally arrived, with the new 98's voicing themselves in a manner
that allowed the upright bass to be within touching distance. The piano
notes floated and paused.....................
And the horns were spine tingling in their presentation. Went in and
out of the room several times and the ambience and presence was the same
each time I returned.
The symbiosis has arrived.

They are a
well rounded speaker with a quite neutral and balanced signature; no
noticeably objectionable peaks or dips. The bass extension is fairly
low, fast, and quite a bit less tubby than normally heard in tall bass
reflex cabinets. The midrange is coherent and well defined, with good
clarity, and the highs are exceptionally fast, clean, and warm sounding.
Doesn't sound thick, doesn't sound thin, it just sounds good.
I'd say the
98 Signature model sounds far better than anything that costs so little
has any right to, for sure.

I find the parkers
fronting the Imperials to be the best combination of speakers with all
of the Decware amps.

Dissapear they do.. I've
had mine for over three years now and to be honest never really think
about them. They look nice, but don't scream for attention. They sound
terrific....................... Whenever I eye my system and think of
what could make it better, I never even think of the Parkers. I
guess that's the best compliment I can give them.

Well I finally had the
chance to hear how my ZEN 84C really sounds with the Parker 95
Signatures. All I can say is the 2 were meant for each other and now I
can understand more clearly Steve's enthusiasm. He makes a claim that
one needs to spend up to 10K to get this level of performance and I
totally agree to that statement NOW That I have listened to both of them
together. You see just about 1 week ago I went to a small Audio
specialty store that had on display The Wilson Maxx Series 3 Speakers
which lets say its very, very expensive 70K for the pair, plus 10k for
ARC'S Reference CD7 cd player, 25K for the amps ,10K for the preamp,3.5K
for power filtering and maybe 10k in IC's and power cords from
Transparent AUDIO. SO THIS SYSTEM I HEARD COST ALMOST 130k. Well I got
news for you from the midrange thru the extreme highs I preferred the
sound of my system to what I listened to 1 week ago on that special set
up. I played a cut from the Firebird Suite 1919 a 96K 24 bit special
file available from ITRACK web site. The high freq. extension went out
to infinity on the Parker 95's with tremendous air and spaciousness and
I could clearly hear the actual acoustic space the orchestra was playing
in so easily.
I really was sucked into
the performance with the micro dynamics as well as the huge difference
in the ppp passages and the final climax last cords. I was grinning ear
to ear when this 25 minute track finished and said WOW! I have them in
my 13 foot wide by 27 foot living room with standard 8 foot ceiling
heavy insulated from above. I am still experimenting with speaker
placement from the first 5 hours of playing. I bought these speakers
used so I assume they are already well broken in. I have already
played every imaginable type of music from this combo and its holding
its own with the best around. I need to speak with Mr. Parker and find
out what sub. would mate well with his 95 Signatures. Oh while I 'm
remembering I played a cut with light Jazz from Diana Krall and was able
to hear light drum stroking with drum brushes all the way thru
the entire song. It never was buried underneath a fog or haze but was
clearly heard in the background as you were there in person. What a
revelation this was to my ears and the high end system never came
anywhere close to doing this.
I extend my gratitude
for all your hard work and continuation of making affordable audiophile
gear to those with less discretionary income available.
Again I as trombone player for the past 40 years and playing bass
trombone for the past 20 years in The Skagit Symphony offers me a unique
insight into the sound of live music and both of you have achived this
in spades.
Again Thank You Very
Much
Don
